Fourth of July

Independence Day is a very special day. It marks the moment our country became a nation—when we were set free from the chains of England. July 4th, 1776 may be considered our nation’s birthday, but I believe the real Independence Day is the day Jesus died on the cross.

Jesus’s death made our ultimate freedom possible. God came down from His throne in Heaven to be with us—to free us from ourselves and the bondage of sin.

Much like our Founding Fathers, our Father in Heaven knew we needed saving. We needed freedom from the chains we had been bound to. Jesus came to bring us that freedom.

He was born in the humblest of places—no room for His family except a barn filled with animals. He was raised by a carpenter and his wife, perfect in every way. (I bet His brothers hated that He never got in trouble!) He was tempted in the wilderness for forty days and never once gave in. He had many followers who eagerly devoured His teachings, always wanting more.

Not everyone liked Him—some felt threatened by His power and authority. But Jesus never spoke poorly of them. He told the truth boldly and lovingly, and all of it led to His death—a horrible, heartbreaking death.

And yet, He knew. He knew what was coming. He knew the excruciating pain He would suffer. Still, He chose to go through with it—because He knew that only through His sacrifice could we be truly free.

I am incredibly thankful for the men and women who have fought to protect our nation’s freedom. They often go unrecognized, underappreciated, and underpaid. I pray for Jesus to protect them and their families as they continue to serve.

2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV) says:

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

That verse reminds us that true liberty comes from God’s presence.

So this Independence Day, let’s thank God for the soldiers who fight for our freedom, thank Jesus for the freedom of our souls, and pray for continued protection over our great nation.

God Bless America🇺🇸
